Ministerial Screening: Why Senate Must Confirm Rotimi Amaechi
A political and civic-action group called Move on Nigeria has urged the Senate to confirm the former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, as minister.
The group noted that the former governor deserved the appointment given his role in the emergence of the new dispensation.
The national coordinator of the group, Clem Aguiyi, in a statement in Abuja said: “Former Governor Amaechi worked tirelessly for this era including taking some personal risks. During the period we were opposed to each other and luckily for him his side won the election. If the President needs him as part of the cabinet’s team, his nomination should be allowed to go through. I don’t think President Buhari should be denied any tool he needs to work or be given an excuse to fail.”
