More Controversy As MASSOB Leader Disowns Radio Biafra Boss
The alleged Saturday October 17 arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra and one of the leaders of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has continued to ostensibly amass more controversies among Nigerians as the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, on Monday, October 19, disowned the director.
According to The Nation, Uwazuruike disclosed that Kanu who was arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS) does not belong to the Biafra movement.

It was reported that Uwazuruike in a statement through his assistant director of information, Sunday Okereafor, in Owerri the Imo state capital.
However, the MASSOB leader in his statement described the Radio Biafra director as a rebel who had long been expelled by the Biafra movement owing to the fact that he had at a time incited violence among members.
The MASSOB leader said that Kanu’s arrest had nothing to do with the struggle for a sovereign state of Biafra.
Uwazuruike further noted that Kanu broke the group non violence approach and was summarily dismissed.

On the allegation that the he planned the arrest of Kanu, Uwazuruike dismissed it stressing that the movement cannot meddle into unnecessary matter.
However, a faction of the MASSOB had demanded that the federal government immediately releases of the Radio Biafra director.
Meanwhile, the separatist group, IPOB, had written an open letter to world leaders over the plight of their arrested leader.
In their letter, members of the group said that with the arrest of Kanu, freedom of speech had received “a knock of death”. They also called on world leaders to “stand up to its integrity, pride, and in defense of the law they made”.
