PDP, Broken Record Needing Help – Presidency Fires Back
The Peoples Democratic Party has on Sunday, October 18, received a presidential jibe over its statement that the presidency is liable for the travails of the former governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio, at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
However, the presidency swiftly responded that the defeated former ruling PDP was a party to be pitied saying that the opposition party has run out of ideas, Vanguard reports.
The PDP’s had on Sunday said that the interrogation of Senator Godswill Akpabio by the EFCC was a grand plot by the government of President Mohammadu Buhari to weaken the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

In the statement, the PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, also censured President Buhari over what he called an absolute dictatorship on the part of the president.
The PDP scribe went further to accuse the president of selective judgment asking him to also go for former governors of Lagos state and others who hail from his party, the All Progressives Congress.
Responding to the PDP statement, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina said that former ruling party was a broken recorded that was needed to be discarded.

The presidential spokesman said: “The opposition seems to have run out of ideas so soon. Daily, we hear the same jaded, hackneyed allegations from them. I think they really are to be pitied. They need help.
“A broken record that repeats itself ceaselessly is of no use than to be thrown away.”
In line with the probe of the former governor by the EFCC, there are indications that some top officials of the state government and would be arrested for questioning alongside officials of banks allegedly used for illegal deals by Akpabio.
