Safety is paramount in today’s world, and you have to protect yourself completely if you don’t want to be a victim.
Generally speaking, we tend to ignore safety tips/advice even though most of these tips are meant for our own safety. A few years back, a young girl was kidnapped, raped and eventually killed after being lured through Facebook.
And that is one example that we heard of, there are most likely a bunch of other similar happenings that we have not heard of.
Now, Pulse Tech may not be able to give you advice on how to protect yourself physically, but we have some tips of how to be safe online. Here are 6 ways to keep yourself safe online.

Do not open strange email attachments: Be watchful of the kind of emails atttachments you open, even if it is from an email you recognize. Someone you know could have been hacked and their email could be used to target you.

Leave funny websites alone: In the quest for torrent, porn or gambling sites, you could be tempted to start to search the web randomly, this could end badly. The safest best is to just ask your friends or colleagues to recommend good sites.

Do not let apps broadcast your location without your knowledge: Be sure that your location is never on except when you want it to be. Check your phone intermittently to make sure that it is off. Don’t post on Facebook or tweet with your location on, unless when you are sure it’s safe to. Not everyone you see online is there for fun, a lot of people have criminal intent.

Do not conduct transactions or login to secure accounts via public WiFi: Don’t shop, send money, or do any transaction of that nature over public WiFi. These kinds of transactions should be conducted over you private Internet connection. You never know who might be sniffing for your details.

Don’t put in your password or pin if you don’t trust it: No matter the platform, if you don’t trust the website, do not enter your card details or any personal information that could be used to target you.

Watch out for phishing: Not the tilapia or catfish type. It means you should watch out for online fraudsters that pose as legitimate companies or individuals, asking for financial details. Do not reply mails asking you to send a certain amount of money so a prince or princess can have access to some inheritance. NA SCAM!
