Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state is building a secondary school for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the less privileged in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.
Okorocha, who had earlier promised to build the school during a recent meeting of governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC), visited the project site on Monday.
Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Umaru, his Deputy, Martins Babale, and other members of the state's Executive Council, joined Okorocha as he inspected the site.
Addressing journalists after the inspection, Okorocha said he is excited about the project which will provide education for persons displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency which has severely damaged education in the North-Eastern parts of Nigeria.
“The project couldn’t have come at a better time considering the damage done to education in the North-East by insurgency," he said.
