CHAN 2016: Eagles Set To Know Opponents

The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria will know their opponents at the Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN) by Sunday November 15, 2015, after the Organising committee of the competition draws all 16 qualified teams in to pots.

The Eagles were drawn in POT 2 alongside Angola, Gabon and neighbours Mali. Host Rwanda are placed in POT 1, which includes DR Congo, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.

Morocco, Uganda, Cameroon and Niger occupy POT 3 and then Ethiopia are placed with Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia and Guinea in POT 4.

The draw for the finals will be held at the Serena Hotel in Kigali at 6:00pm local time.

Teams placed in Group A will play their preliminary matches at the Amahoro Stadium I Kigali, Group B in Bature while the Nyamirambo stadium will host teams in Group C. Countries in Group D will play at the Gisenyi Stadium also in Rwanda.

It would be recalled that Nigeria came third in the 2014 African Nations Championship in South Africa, after losing to Ghana 4-1 on penalties in the Semi-final before managing to defeat Zimbabwe 1 – 0 in the third place play-offs.

The 2006 edition will take place in Rwanda from January 16 and then climax on February 7.
