‘Hello’: 7 covers of Adele’s ballad by Nigerian artists

Several Nigerians have taken up the 'Hello' challenge and created their own versions of the melody.

Since Adele released her comeback song ‘Hello’ in October, it has quickly gone to be quickest selling singles in the world.

Within 24 hours of its release, the song received 27.7 million views on YouTube. As at today, the English musician’s song has received over 400 million views!

The song has also grown to be a selected sing along choice for many. Several Nigerians have taken up the 'Hello' challenge and created their own versions of the melody. 

Pulse Music presents a list of Nigerian artists who have covered the heart wrenching melody.

Diwari

 

It wasn’t surprising to hear former Nigerian Idol finalist Diwari release her own cover of ‘Hello’. The singer has previously covered Sia's ‘Titanium’.

Her version was directed by Kay Soundsmith.

Omawumi

 

Omawumi’s version is very impressive. The singer begins with a hypnotic vibe that draws you. And the moment you are getting comfortable, she switches things up with a striking twist introducing a reggae vibe.

Her version was produced by E-Kelly.

Praiz

 

Even male vocalist Praiz brought on his own flavour on his cover of the song. The X3M Music singer serenades listeners with his deep soulful voice backed by the piano, guitar strings and the violin.

Ruby Gyang

 

Ruby Gyang reps the Chocolate City camp hitting the high notes on her version.

Yemi Sax

 

As part of his “JALTOS” compilation album, saxophone player Yemi Sax blows out notes of Adele’s moving melody.

DJ Caise

 

DJ Caise spices things up and gives ‘Hello’ a funky house beat.

Niyola

 

Niyola reps EME on this one. The singer’s version is the latest release of all the covers.

In the meantime Vic O has suggested he might be dropping his own version of the song soon.
