Kelechi Iheanacho: Manchester City star says he’s ready for Super Eagles debut

Iheanacho says he entertains no fear and would take responsibility when he’s called up on the pitch

Manchester City star Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that he is ready to make his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star has just been given his a call-up by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland.

Speaking ahead of Super Eagles clash with Swaziland, Iheanacho says he entertains no fear and would take responsibility when he’s called up on the pitch.

 

“I am full of confidence and not shy to play for the national team of Nigeria believing that the senior players are better,” the forward said at a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, November 11.

“I am happy to be part of the group bidding to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.  I am here to do my best for the Eagles.  I play with experienced players at Manchester City.’’

The Super Eagles will take on Swaziland on Friday, November 13 (7PM Nigerian time) in the second round, first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

 

The King’s Shield dispatched Djibouti 8-1 on aggregate in the first round to book a date with the former African champions who reached the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.

Nigeria have never faced Swaziland in any international game.
