Kogi: INEC Releases Sensitive Materials, Moves Against Fuel Scarcity
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive materials to be used in the Kogi state governorship which is barely 48 hours away, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The materials were delivered at the INEC office in Lokoja today, November 19, and were escorted out to various destinations amidst tight security.
Present to witness the distribution were representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress, and other parties to partake in the election.

Speaking to newsmen in Lokoja, Halilu Pai, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, said the materials distributed include ballot papers and result sheets.
He noted that INEC has undertaken measure to ensure the election in the state free, fair, and credible.
Pai said: “The materials delivered, would be taken to the INEC offices in the 21 local government areas of the state from where they would later in the day be shared among the 239 wards.
“The INEC is ready and committed to conduct a free, fair, credible and acceptable election.”
According to Pai, political parties, security agents and other stakeholders must play their roles according to the rules as INEC has made arrangements to ensure that the fuel scarcity currently being experienced in the state would not in any way impact negatively on the process and outcome of the election.
He said: “INEC has made arrangements with some filling stations that would sell fuel to all vehicles on election duty, and that the stations had been prevailed upon to operate on 24-hour basis beginning from Friday.”

The two leading candidate going into the Kogi election, Governor Idris Wada of the PDP and Audu Abubakar of the APC have clashed on several occasions.
Audu has promised the people of the state that he will revive the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Rolling company if he gets their mandate. While Wada has warned against a vote for Audu, saying it will drag the state backto the dark days.
The Kogi state governorship election is scheduled to be held this Saturday, November 21.
