Popular Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Dede Mabiaku, has described the year 2015 as a very good, interesting as well as depressive year for the Nigerian Music Industry.
Speaking at the Tunji Braitwaite family thanksgiving service in Lagos on Sunday December 20, the versatile musician, who is highly proficient in Afrobeat, Highlife and Jazz music genres added that the voice of music artistes are the voice of the people.
He said: “It’s a great year. However, our musicians should do more to speak for the people. The year has been very good, but depressive as well because I expected more.”

Asked what the present crop of artistes in the country needed to do to ensure a better 2016, the protégé of the Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti said: “That’s what I am saying. Power is in their hands now.
“They need to add energy to be more productive. They are the one that can rapidly change our society. The younger generation, I mean the contemporary musicians should bring in more quality as well as reality into their music.” he concluded.
