Adamawa: Clerics thank God for peaceful Maulud/Yuletide

Adamawa State Governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla.

He urged them to continue to pray for peace and prosperity and for a lasting solution to the current security challenges facing the country.

Religious leaders in Adamawa have expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful Christmas and Eid-el-Mauloud celebrations in the state.

The clerics gave the thanks on Saturday when they paid Christmas homage to Gov. Muhammadu Jibrilla.

In their respective remarks, the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Mike Moses, and his Muslim Council counterpart, Uztaz Ismaila Modibbo, also lauded the state government for partnering with security agencies to achieve the hitch-free celebrations.

They assured the government of the support of religious bodies through prayers and mobilisation of their faithful for peaceful coexistence.

They also lauded the Governor for his development programmes and urged him to continue to run an open and transparent government.

Responding, Jibrilla lauded the effective role of the religious leaders in nation building.

He urged them to continue to pray for peace and prosperity and for a lasting solution to the current security challenges facing the country.

Jibrilla said the celebration of Christmas and Ed-el-Maulud at the same time this year was symbolic and should be used by leaders of both faiths to propagate peace, unity and tolerance.

He said his administration was committed to positive transformation of the state and would carry everybody along, irrespective of religion, tribe or political affiliation.
