Boko Haram: Troops kill 4 female terrorists attempting suicide bombing in Maiduguri
Usman explained that one of them died when she detonated her explosive vest, while the three others were gunned down by the troops.
The Nigerian Army has killed four female Boko Haram members attempting to carry out a suicide bombing attack in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Army in a statement on Wednesday, Dec. 16, disclosed in a statement by Sani Usman, the force spokesman, that the terrorists were killed near a checkpoint on the outskirt of Maiduguri.
Usman explained that one of them died when she detonated her explosive vest, while the three others were gunned down by the troops.

He said, “Today at about 7.30am 4 female suicide bombers were intercepted by troops and Borno youth, otherwise known as Civilian JTF, ahead of a checkpoint, which is about 25km away from the city of Maiduguri.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that suicide bombers were earlier observed trying to bypass a military checkpoint through a nearby village before they were ordered to take the right road.
“However, few metres short of the checkpoint, one of the bombers swiftly detonated her vest. The vigilant troops gunned down the other three suicide bombers before they carry out their nefarious acts.
“Sadly, one of the Civilian JTF lost his life and 4 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
“The Nigeria Police Explosive Ordinance Device team in the area safely detonated the unexploded Improvised Explosive Device carried by the other suicide bombers.
“The security situation in the area is now cool and calm."
