Enemy Within: Female banker in trouble for stealing customer's N90m
A female banker who stole her customer's funds have been charged to court.
The dreams of a 32-year-old female banker, Adejumoke Anthony, of making fast money and live large, has been truncated after she was arrested and arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Lagos State, for who allegedly defrauded one of her customers to the tune of N90 million.
Anthony who was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, reportedly lived like a big girl in her mansion in the highbrow Lekki area of the state and drives expensive cars.
The prosecutor in the case, Corporal Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in March 2013, at the branch of the new generation bank she was working in Lekki.
Odugbo said the accused allegedly conspired with others still at large, to fraudulently obtain N90 million belonging to a couple, Mr and Mrs Babatunde Oduewu, a customer at her bank.
The prosecutor said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which provides three years imprisonment for anyone found guilty of stealing, while Section 409 provides two years imprisonment for anyone found guilty of conspiring with others to commit felony.
Anthony pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Awogboro, admitted her to bail in the sum of N5 million, with two sureties in like sum, with one of them being a blood relation of the accused.
Awogboro adjourned the case till January 26, 2016, for mention.
