Xmas Special: 4 traffic violations to avoid during the festive period!

As a resident of Lagos state, find out which areas the government is paying special attention to.

The Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Relations, Mr. Seye Oladejo, Lagos state, has briefed journalists on the government's plan to have a traffic-free festive season.

At the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa Secretariat, he revealed the state's plan to enforce traffic rules and regulations with the help of the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bashir Braimah, General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), e.t.c.

The following are traffic violations to stay away from in Lagos state as the government is prepared to take action against them.

  1. Driving in a reckless manner.

  2. Driving above the speed limit on highway.

  3. Driving unlatched containerized vehicles.

  4. Tankers plying the roads after the hours of 6am -9pm daily.

According to Mr Oladejo, the government is paying special attention to the above, as the Traffic Law 2012 has been fully enforced.

“The State Government is coming out fully to implement all these laws through our relevant government agencies and the security operatives such as the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Task Force on Environmental and Special Offence, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Neighbourhood watch by assisting the government in apprehending defaulters of these laws and be prosecuted accordingly.”
