Again! APC Blames Goodluck Jonathan For Bad Economy And Fall Of Naira (PHOTOS)
Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reiterated its earlier stand that the country’s present woes are as a result of the financial recklessness of the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
The APC’s position was stated by the acting national publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Timi Frank who granted an interview with Vanguard yesterday, January 17.

According to Comrade Frank, the financial recklessness exhibited by the previous government was responsible for the fall of Naira and Nigeria’s dwindling economy.
He went on to say that the Jonathan administration “squandered” the resources of the country, adding that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari did not meet anything on ground with which to run the country.
He therefore asked Nigerians to be patient with the Buhari administration stressing that the president was committed to righting the wrongs of the past.

He said: “Personally, I am worried about the current situation of the economy but again I am letting you know it is not our fault because this is what we met. We met a bastardised system. We took over from a government that destroyed our economy. The PDP government embezzled the wealth of our nation. So our economy is something we are fighting to survive.
“And I can assure you that our government is taking every necessary step to make sure we revive our economy and that everything will come to stay. Clearly, I can tell you that this is why the President is moving round to make sure our economy stands again.
“The current situation of our country today, I am asking Nigerians not to blame President Buhari because he is working very hard to make sure things go well with Nigerians that voted APC government to power. They will not be disappointed.
“So the blame goes back again to the previous government, the PDP government which squandered the resources of our country. And today, Nigeria as a nation is suffering because of them. But by the grace of God, things will be fine again.”
It is not clear if Comrade Frank has the backing of the APC in his recent tirade against the Jonathan government as he has been having a running battle with the leadership of his party.

Although, information minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who happens to be the immediate past publicity secretary of the APC, had earlier held the same position as Comrade Frank.
Just last week, Comrade Frank accused the APC national chairman, Chief John Oyegun and national secretary, Mallam Mai-Mala Buni, of breaching the party’s constitution by taking over functions assigned to his office.
It will be recalled that about four weeks ago, Oyegun was asked by journalists during a press briefing to state who speaks for the party after the exit of Mohammed.
The APC chairman stated that it was either himself or the national secretary that had the right to officially speak for the party, adding that arrangement had been made for the national secretary to perform the duties of the national publicity secretary pending the election of a substantive officer, which automatically means the party is not considering Frank for the role.

Meanwhile, the man at the centre of it all, Goodluck Jonathan seems to be focused on his new found role as an international advocate for good governance and free and fair elections especially in Africa.
On Thursday, January 14, Jonathan added to his growing list of international awards after being honoured by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), in Atlanta, Georgia.
Earlier this month, Jonathan was named the ‘Person of the Year’ by The African Sun Times, Africa’s number one and largest newspaper in the United States of America (USA).
