The Ekiti state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has praised Governor Ayodele Fayose for his brave analysis of the way the country is being run by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The party also commended Fayose for not being afraid to criticize Buhari and for checkmating the president’s alleged dictatorial tendency

According to the PDP, if Fayose had not been talking, Buhari would have launched Nigeria on the road to fascism.

This Day reports that the party lauded the governor in a statement made by Jackson Adebayo, the PDP’s publicity secretary in the state, on Sunday, January 17, in Ado-Ekiti.

“It is a great sacrifice that the governor of Ekiti state is making in this regards, and other PDP governors should join hand to check President Buhari’s penchant for disobedience of court orders and abuse of power before Nigeria’s democracy hits the rocks,” Adebayo said.

He noted that Buhari was showing favoritism in the handling of different sectors, especially, his fight against corruption and election matters.

Calling on all members of the opposition party to follow the example of Fayose, the secretary stressed: “It has become imperative for all members of the oppositions to rise up against the federal government as its becoming glaring that Nigeria is gradually being turned into a banana republic with the way and manner President Buhari is handling matters of national importance.”

Adebayo urged all Nigerians to emulate Fayose’s idea of critical analysis of the activities of the federal government and noted that if Buhari was left with his thoughts and actions, Nigeria’s democracy could collapse at a time.

The party’s secretary also called on the president to respect the rule of law upon which he rode to power, adding anything sort of that would be a bad omen for democracy in the country.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state has condemned Fayose over his comments on Buhari.

According to the party, the governor has no democratic credentials and integrity to accuse the president of being a tyrant and a threat to the survival of democracy in Nigeria.
