The past and present Emirs seem to be lovers of good cars, judging by the fact that the Rolls Royce is a well known luxury car, which can be obtained by the ‘super rich’.

According to history, this Rolls Royce has been handed down over five decades (the car is over 53 years old). It was reportedly passed down in 1953 to the then Emir of Kano, late Alhaji Ado Bayero who died on the 6th of June 2014. The late Ado Bayero inherited it from Emir Muhammadu Inuwa.
The car is about as old as Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who is the current Emir of Kano.

This was reportedly used to transport the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth, and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, during their official visit to Kano in 1956.

The present British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright visited the Emir’s palace yesterday, January 25. He shared pictures of the same Rolls Royce Queen Elizabeth rode in on his twitter page.
