CAF clears Guinea to host games after Ebola defeat

Guinea was banned from hosting football games while the virus was still present in the African nation.

The Confederation of African Football has lifted it ban on Guinea following the successful eradication of the Ebola virus in the country.

According to a letter addressed to the president of the Guinean Football Federation, Salifou Camara by CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani, Guinea can now host continental matches.

The letter read: “CAF has learned with joy and relief the announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO) on December 29, 2015, officially confirming that Guinea is now declared Ebola free,” a letter to the president of the Guinean Football Federation, Salifou Camara from CAF General Secretary, Hicham El Amrani.

“CAF thereby confirms lifting the ban on the organization of continental matches in Guinea, and for all competitions organized by CAF.”

 The World Health Organization (WHO) declared Guinea free of Ebola virus just before the new year, 2016.
