Militants Carryout Wanton Destruction Of Major Oil/Gas Pipelines Over Tompolo’s Face-off With The EFCC

Chevron Nigeria Limited and other major oil companies operating in Delta state would be shutting down operations on Saturday, January 16, as militants in the area commence wanton destruction of oil and gas pipeline.

Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) has denied involvement in the pipeline attack.

The Nation reports that militants in the area have gone on the rampage following Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo’s face-off with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The oil companies took the decision after another wanton destruction of oil facilities crippled a large portion of production.

Chevron Tank Farm in Escravos and other major crude and gas pipeline were hit over night by militants.

It was gathered that major assets of Chevron and other indigenous oil firms in the area were hit in the overnight attacks.

It was gathered that the gas pipeline from Olero creeks to Escravos were hit, while the main crude line from Makaraba through Otunana, Abiteye and others were also destroyed by the saboteurs.

As at press time this morning, it could not be confirmed if the fire that erupted at Odidi pipeline following yesterday morning attack had been put out.

Meanwhile, Tompolo has denied responsibility for the attack on a pipeline on Friday morning, as speculation became rift that he is behind the renewed attacks on oil facilities.

The attacks allegedly started hours a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered security operatives to arrest the former Niger Delta militant leader, Tompolo.

Tompolo recently raised the alarm that some people are planning to bomb crude oil facilities and pipelines in the Niger Delta region and attribute the havoc to him.

Recall that Niger Delta ex-militants had earlier requested President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to leave their former leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, alone.
