Rashidi Yekini: Aged Mother of late Super Eagles great cries for help
His mother, Sikiratu Yekini in a recent interview says she has been struggling to live since her son died
Aged mother of late Super Eagles Rashidi Yekini great has cried out for help after revealing that ‘life has been difficult for her’ since the passing of her son.
Yekini scored 37 goals in 58 appearances for the Super Eagles and died in May 2012 at the age of 48.
He remains the highest goal scorer for the Super Eagles with 37 goals and represented Nigeria in five major tournaments, including two FIFA World Cup competitions.

His mother, Sikiratu Yekini in a recent interview says she has been living from hand to mouth and has nobody to call for help since the death of her son.
“Rashidi was the glory of the family, and all the family benefited from him when he was alive,” Sikiratu told Naij from her base at to Ijagbo, a town in Kwara State.
She also revealed that other family members are also struggling to survive.
“My other children are struggling to survive, and it was even during the fight for survival that Rashidi’s younger sister died and Akeem who is the immediate younger brother to Yekini is into a labouring work,” she said.

She finally pleaded with the Nigerian government to come to her aid and that of Rashidi’s younger brother Akeem.
“My son has served this country, and I want the government and other people to come to our aid because It would not be good for me to die in this situation,” she further said.
