Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state said his government found out 850 ghost workers among the state workforce. Dr Obiano stated that these sets of people have been draining the state of its meagre resources. He said the step was taken to prevent further wastage in the expenses of the state.

The Anambra state governor made this known when he was addressing journalists during an interactive session. He said this was one of the measures his government is using to counter the tough economic downturn presently in Nigeria because of the fall in the price of crude oil.
He further stated that his administration has spent over N34 billion in repairing the federal roads. He said he can not continue to repair any more roads as he is yet to be paid a kobo by the APC-led government.
The governor lamented on the ongoing work on the Enugu- Onitsha expressway because the road project did not reflect in 2016 National budget.
Obiano urged the Buhari-led administration to re-think about reconstructing the road in order to ameliorate the sufferings the people of the area pass through daily.
President Muhammadu Buhari himself explained in a recent interview that programmes such as the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) killed the naira. General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), former military president instituted the SAP between 1986 and 1988.
