Manny Pacquiao: Nike ends endorsement deal with boxer
Homosexual relationship is not permitted in Philippines due to a strong distaste for it by the Catholic church
Worldwide sports equipment giant, Nike has ended its relationship Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao after he made a comment about gay people being worst than animals.
Nike has therefore made an official statement concerning the end of its relationship with the boxer saying, “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community… we no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.”
“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” it added.
His comment sparked worldwide criticism especially from the gay community and has affected his political ambition in his home country, Philippines.

Pacquiao later went on to apologise for his comments, stating that he does not encourage same-sex marriage due to the bible's command about homosexuality.
“Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I’m not condemning L.G.B.T. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I’m praying for you.”
