Peter Okoye: "I feel if our mum was still alive, we would have pushed her to her grave" says singer

Peter Okoye

In an exclusive interview Peter Okoye reveals all that has transpired in the Psquare camp within the last few years that has led to this present ugly scenario.

Peter Okoye, has given an exclusive all-tell interview highlighting the broken relationships between him and his brothers, Paul Okoye and Jude Okoye.

Speaking exclusively to NET, Peter Okoye revealed that the rancour between him and his brothers would have pushed their mother to her grave if she was still alive.

"To be honest with you, I feel if our mum was still alive, we would have pushed her to her grave with this whole thing. It's really sad that even with everything going on, I still stand with Paul." Psquare's mum died in 2012 from an undisclosed heart illness.

Paul Okoye last week released a song called 'Call Heaven' which is an emotional tribute to his late mum. In the song the singer says if his mum was around all this won't be happening.

Throughout their vendetta Peter Okoye has always maintained that he stands with his brother Paul Okoye. However in the interview he described his brother as 'weak'.

"I'm sorry to say this, but I think Paul is weak" said Peter Okoye in the interview. The singer told NET that his brother refused his advice to peg Jude Okoye's fee to a percentage from their earnings which is a common practice in the entertainment industry.

"Imagine Jude telling me that he's in charge of Psquare and there's nothing Peter and Paul can do about it, and I look at Paul he's quiet about it."

Talking to the NET Peter Okoye laments about the lack of structure in the Psquare set up which is costing the group millions of dollars in royalties. He also reveals that contrary to popular demand Paul Okoye was the first to go solo with the creation of his new band MVPs.

Also Peter Okoye goes on to demystify the claim that he is just the dancer of the group and he does not know how to write songs. "In Psquare, I am the creative person, I can sit-down and tell you what people want to hear, what they want to see and what they want to learn from Psquare. But it's not something to brag about" further said Peter.

He talks about how Tiwa Savage and other Mavins were astonished that he could write when he went over to Don Jazzy's studio to work with the 'Eminado' singer. According to him his input in Psquare was not really appreciated, and Jude Okoye was always too high handed on him and his brother.

Always the forward thinker Peter Okoye wanted to sign artistes Cynthia Morgan and Simi to his own label P-Classic Records but Jude Okoye wasn't too happy about that. Both artistes turned down the deals a couple of days later only for Cynthia Morgan to sign with Jude Okoye. "She (Cynthia Morgan) knows deep down that she's never going to get a Psquare collabo." Cynthia Morgan signed with Northside Entertainment owned by Jude Okoye in 2013.

In the interview Peter Okoye also squashes the belief that his wife Lola Omotayo and his late mum never got along. "Before my mum died, she was at St. Nicholas hospital on the island, and my sisters were living in this house (in Lekki), and every morning before my wife goes to work, she'll leave home at 5am in the morning to go and stay with my mum even before we get there ourselves. And when she closes from work, she's back with her again." He also says despite the drama the Okoye wives are very cool with each other.

Presently Peter Okoye says he is happy and no longer lives in fear. "The truth is I feel happy it has come, because I've been staying in Psquare in fear for the last four years."

As for the future of Psquare? Peter Okoye who now goes by Mr. P says he will continue performing solo but if you want Psquare to perform you will have to contact the two managers.

Jude Okoye refused to talk to NET about Peter's interview. Two or three years ago Jude, Peter and Paul had separated their properties amongst themselves.
