Nigeria Professional Football League team, Sunshine Stars have followed up the sack of Coach Samson Unuanel with changes at the management level.

In a statement made available to Naij.com sports, Wahab Bankole, the club’s media officer announced the new changes.

According to him, the management of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) has appointed Yomi Ogunlade as Sunshine Stars new team manager. Ogunlade will be assisted by Rafiu Yusuf.

The statement reads: “As part of efforts to reposition Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, the management of the Ondo State Football Agency under the Chairmanship of Prince John Ola Mafo who is also the club president has carried out further reorganisations in the composition of the micro management of the Akure based team.

“To this end, Mr Yomi Ogunlade is now the Team Manager of Sunshine Stars while Mr Rafiu Yusuf will serve as the Assistant Team Manager.

“Mr Gabriel Aborowa who was the former Team Manager has been redeployed back to the office. 

“We use this opportunity to appeal to all our supporters and fans as well as general stakeholders that all decisions are in line towards the repositioning of the team  in a bid to  achieve greater results in this football season.

“We also charged the good people of Ondo State to always support and pray for the success of all the teams under the charge of the agency.”

Samson Unuanel on Thursday, March 3, became the second coach to be shown the exit door this season in the NPFL after Heartland sacked Coach Berthel Orji.

Unuanel’s termination of appointment comes just after three months that the former Kwara United manager was hired by the Akure Gunners.

Naij.com Sports understood that Samson Unuanel was thrown out together with his assistant, Henry Abiodun by the management of Sunshine Stars who were furious by the current imbroglio happening in the club.

It was learnt that there has been serious internal wrangling between Samson Unuanel and Henry Abiodun since the beginning of this term.

Samson Unuanel was in charge of Sunshine for only three premier League games this season before his sack.

His first match was a 1-1 draw at home against Akwa United before losing 1-2 at Lobi Stars in his second match and a 2-1 defeat at Mountain of Fire Miracles and Ministries (MFM FC).

The Akure based team currently occupy 17th position on the NPFL standings as they have only garnered 1 point after week four games.

Sunshine Stars will face FC Ifeanyi Ubah this coming weekend in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week five game in Akure.
