Rivers Rerun Elections: 'Video of military atrocities to be released soon,' Wike threatens
Wike, who made threat on Monday, March 21, accused the military of staging violence in the state, as a scheme to declare a state of emergency in the state.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has threatened to release a video showing alleged atrocities committed by the military during the senatorial rerun election which took place on Saturday, March 19.
Wike, who made threat on Monday, March 21, accused the military of staging violence in the state, as a scheme to declare a state of emergency in the state.
“We have videos of the atrocities committed by the military across Rivers State. We shall release them at the appropriate time,” the Governor was quoted as saying.
“There is an attempt to cause violence to declare a state of emergency in Rivers state.”
According to a statement through Wike's spokesman, Simeon Nwakaudu, he said the APC is merely involved in propaganda to create the impression of violence.
He advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address the challenges noticed during the March 19 election when fresh polls are conducted in the eight local government areas where elections were cancelled.

With PDP wining elections in the constituencies in which results were declared, Wike said it goes to show that Rivers is “purely a PDP state”.
“While we campaigned, they were not campaigning .With what I have done in a few months, it will be difficult to defeat PDP in the state.
“Now, we have a strong opposition for the first time. It is a healthy development,” he said.
Wike and his sworn rival and a former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi had reportedly clashed on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Mile 1 Police station over result for Ward 10 after PHALG Collation officer, Mrs Ekwe Adebisa allegedly ran into the police station for safety.
