Boko Haram: See the newest contribution US made
– The United States donated money to Boko Haram victims
– The money is meant to help them get back on their feet after the trauma of Boko Haram attacks
In a bid to contribute to the rebuilding the lives of those affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, the United States announced a donation of $40 million to Nigeria.
The Nigerian military has been winning the fight against the insurgency and have taken back most of the areas controlled by the terrorists. This has prompted many of those who fled from the north east region to Cameroon to return.
Abacha Mari, one of the returnees said the towns were in ruins.
“We found a looted and burnt out town which is a shadow of its former self.
“More than nine-tenths of the buildings in the town have been damaged by fire while the rest have been washed away by the rains.
“Everything was looted and the streets are barely recognisable.”
Samantha Power who is the US ambassador to the United Nations announced this dotation which is said to provide humanitarian services to those affected by the insurgency.
