Photo news: Top dignitaries pay final tribute to Alamieseigha in hometown amid tears
The late Diepriye Alameiseigha, the first civilian governor of Bayelsa state has been laid to rest in his home town in Ammassoma, Bayelsa state.
Born on November 16, 1952 in Amassoma, Ogboin north local government area of Bayelsa state, Alamieyeseigha died of cardiac arrest at a Port Harcourt hospital on Saturday, October 10, 2015.
The former president, Goodluck Jonathan, incumbent governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson, vice president John Jonah were amongst other top dignitaries who attended the funeral ceremony of the late ex-governor, as they paid their final tribute to a man who was popularly known as “Governor-General of Ijaw Nation”.
The household of the deceased were thrown into tears when they sighted the corpse of the late governor as the Alamieyeseigha’s widow, Margaret cried uncontrollably.
Alamieyeseigha was a die-hard supporter of former president Jonathan and Governor Dickson.
