Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, the chairman Senate committee on special duties, on Friday, April 29, said his committee and the establishment services will jointly hold a public hearing on the North east development commission bill.
The public hearing is set to hold for two days which are Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10.
Nyako informed a NAIJ.com correspondent on the plans saying the public hearing will allow stakeholders and the general public make their imputes to the bill before it would be passed .
Adding that the two days public hearing is expected to receive support from Nigeria and beyond which would serve as a guide for the establishment of the commission.

He said that the North-east zone would serve as a hub for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the North-east zone.
According to him, the master plan of the bill is to be achieved within the next ten years, with a functional security department.
Nyako therefore called on international agencies, and contributors to make imputes that would see to the actualization of the bill just like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) , which would be given legislative backing to ensure that funds are judiciously used .
On Monday, March 14, Nyako called on the federal government to pay adequate attention to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Nigeria.

He said it was important that Nigeria be extremely concerned about what happened at the IDP camps and explained that he wanted the Refugees Commission and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to cater to the IDPS.
The bill has already passed first and second reading in both chambers of the National Assembly and referred to his committee.
It was first presented for first reading on November 15, was sponsored by the Speaker of the House of representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who stepped down from the chair to lead debate on the bill.
