Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja exercised their franchise in the nation’s capital today, April 9, in the area council elections. 

The elections were held in six area councils namely: Abuja municipal council, Gwagwalada, Abaji, Kuje, Bwari and Kwali.

Restriction of movement within the capital city was imposed by the police from 8am to 4pm, shutting down activities in  Africa’s fastest growing capital.
