Fantastically Corrupt: Fayose blames Buhari for Cameron’s statement
The British PM was caught on video, describing Nigeria as one of the most corrupt nations in the world, adding that the country is fantastically corrupt.
Governor Ayo Fayose has blamed President Buhari for the comments made by the British Prime Minister, David Cameron.
The British PM was caught on video, describing Nigeria as one of the most corrupt nations in the world, adding that the country is fantastically corrupt.
Fayose said the President’s utterances about the nation when he travels outside Nigeria, gave Cameron the audacity to make such statements.
The Governor also said Buhari should apologise to Nigerians for 'demarketing' the country in international circles.
Fayose, in a statement signed by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, said “What do you expect from the international community when the president of a nation keeps going abroad to say that his people are corrupt?”
The Ekiti state Governor also chided the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for acting like it is above the law.
Fayose also said “When a president mounts the podium in foreign lands and gleefully says that his own people are criminals, that they are corrupt and that those abroad should be sent back home, why won’t presidents of other countries brand all citizens of such a country as fantastically corrupt?
“Rather than this grandstanding from the presidency, conceited efforts should be made to redeem the image of Nigeria that the president has destroyed.”
He also condemned the newly announced pump price of petrol, saying the move clearly shows that President Muhammadu Buhari hates Nigerians.
