“Parrot in jail, thief”, Nigerians celebrate as Fani Kayode goes to prison

The case against former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode and three others has continued to generate a lot of reactions from Nigerians.

Fani-Kayode, who served as director of media and publicity during the campaign of former president Goodluck Jonathan, was arraigned alongside Nenadi Esther Usman, Danjuma Yusuf and Jointrust Dimensions Nigeria Limited.

They appeared before Justice M. S. Hassan of the Federal High Court Lagos, on a 17-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law.

The accused were alleged to have stolen and illegally disbursed about N4.9 billion Naira belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria for political and personal uses.

Fani-Kayode who was arrested on May 9, for fraud-related issues, has been held in detention for over a month and was arraigned in court on Tuesday, June 28, where the judge ordered him to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned to Friday, July 1, 2016 for hearing of bail applications.

However social media has erupted with reactions mocking the former minister following the judge’s order for him to be remanded in prison.

Some are jubilating and thanking God for putting Fani-Kayode in prison so that he can see the other side of life.
