– The coach led Nigeria to victories over Mali and Luxembourg last month 

Super Eagles caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf says he has the ability to be the full time coach of the national team.

According to reports from NFF sources, the Super Eagles coach be led by a foreign coach in the nearest future with three Serbians in line to take over from Yusuf.

Despite the reports Yusuf believes he has paid his dues to be named the country’s coach on a permanent basis.

In the past one year, Yusuf has been named assistant to Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh and Samson Siasia and recently led the Eagles to victories over Mali and Luxembourg.

He has also assisted Siasia on two other occasions – between 2010-11 with the Super Eagles and at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt.

The 54 year old told africanfootball.com: “I am through with assisting any coach because I believe I can do the job now after assisting Keshi, Oliseh and Siasia. 

“I have a good idea of the country’s players both at home and abroad and I believe with a group of willing experienced players and youngsters we can go on to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.”

Meanwhile, Super Eagles stand-in captain Ogenyi Onazi has pleaded with the NFF to maintain the present coaching crew for the execution of World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

The coaching crew which consists Salisu Yusuf, Imama Amapakabo and Kennedy Boboye who led the Nigerian national team to win all two matches.
