Nigeria vs Sudan (preview)

Lagos is agog as Nigeria take-on Sudan in a final leg of qualification for the 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations; a match which will take place today at the famous Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Nigeria’s U20 squad Flying Eagles are already one step closer, having come from behind in the first leg to overpower Sudan 2-1 in Omdurman, with Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen getting the goals for Nigeria.

Ahead of today’s fixture, the Flying Eagles had on Wednesday, July 20, tested their strength in friendly game with Remo Stars of Shagamu in Lagos, ending the match2-2.

Nigeria’s coach Emanuel Amuneke disclosed that his team will put up a better performance on Saturday.

“We are looking up to the game on Saturday, hopefully on Saturday we will be able to put up some much better performance,” he said.

“The lessons from the friendlies are what we keep in the team. We are aware that the Sudanese are a quality side too.

“The first phase of our team is almost rounding up and that is qualification to Zambia and we will make it” he assured.

The former Super Eagles winger also added that he hoped to see his U20 side becoming the dream team of Nigeria’s Super Eagles and play in the 2022 World Cup.

“We have played a lot of big teams to build the team and we are hoping or targeting that in 2022 World Cup, this team will make Nigerians happy.

“We should be proud of our team, I am happy that we can see some good footballers that make Nigerians happy.

“We want all the support from Nigerians; we hope that the current squad will form the bulk of the Super Eagles dream team,” he said.

As Nigeria take-on Sudan in the second-leg today, the winner on aggregates automatically qualifies for the 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Zambia; the first leg ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria.
