Army continues secret mission, SEE what it is doing to deal with Niger Delta militants (photos)

Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army involved in the field training exercise nicknamed “Operation Crocodile Smile” have continued to make progress in the fight against militancy in the Niger Delta region.

The troops with help of Nigerian Navy helicopters, their speed and gunboats, raided suspected oil bunkerer and militant camps at Afiagbene, Burutu local government area of Delta state on Monday, August 29.

Operation CROCODILE SMILE enters Day 4

According to Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the acting director on the army public relations, the troops which entered Day 4 in the field training exercise discovered two generators, one locally made double barrel gun, one dane gun, three live cartridges, two pumping machines, one 32 inches LG television, 1 Kenwood amplifier and 4 X 50 litres of liquid suspected to be crude oil at Ayakoromo junction.

The troops have also been involved continued humanitarian assistance through free medical outreach, show of force, patrols and raids in the creeks.

Recall that the exercise was launched about a month ago. The aim of the exercise is to practice the special forces and other units of the Nigerian army in amphibious and internal security operations in riverine environment and also check criminal activities like kidnapping, militancy and piracy and other forms of criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.

Last Friday, Usman had disclosed that “Exercise Crocodile Smile” is not only about guns and boats but there is humanitarian aspect too.
