Scottish boxer fighting for his life after being knocked out in fifth round
Scottish boxer, Mike Towell, 25, is fighting for his life in hospital after he was knocked out in the fifth round of a bout against Dale Evans. He came into the fight with an impressive record of 11 wins and one draw from his previous 12 fights but couldn't take the heat this time as he was floored by a brutal right hand in the first round. He picked himself up and continued but a smashing left hook in the fifth round did for him and he had to be carried out of the ring on a stretcher.
The fighter's manager Tommy Gilmour said Towell had suffered a 'serious injury' and is breathing via the use of a ventilator in hospital with his family by his bedside.
