#BayelsaDecides: Dickson Tells Who Is Responsible For The Violence

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state has accused Heineken Lokpobiri, the minister of state for agriculture of being responsible for the mayhem unleashed on supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Speaking with newsmen on Saturday, December 5, Dickson accused Lokpobiri of sponsoring thugs adorning police and army uniforms who attacked PDP members and disrupted the ongoing governorship election in the state, Today.ng reports.

He condemned report of violence allegedly unleashed by thugs said to belong to the All Progressives Congress, with the help of soldiers as sporadic shots rented the air, especially in places like Okpoama, Eweama, Twon Brass and Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw local government area.

According to him, he got reports that members PDP members in these areas were attacked with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons. One person was said to have died, while several others sustained serious injuries.

The governor expressed disappointment that security agencies did not heed to his earlier warning that the APC was prepared for war.

Dickson also lamented the failure of the card readers provided for the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the poll.

There have been reports of series of violence in some quarters especially Okpoama and Eweama communities of Brass local government.

Earlier, reports had it that five people have been allegedly killed in Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa state.
