Giwa FC: Club risks expulsion from NPFL after missing league game against Wikki Tourist

Federation Cup: Giwa FC beat Plateau United 1-0, FC Abuja take pound of flesh

In the framework and rules of the NPFL the consequence of missing consecutive matches without acceptable reasons to the organisers are clearly stipulated.

Giwa Football club could be expelled from the Nigeria Football Professional League (NPFL) after failing to turn up for their match at Illorin against Wikki Tourists on Sunday, May 1.

Jos based, Giwa FC was banished to Illorin some weeks ago for crowd trouble in their game against Enugu Rangers.

They however failed to turn up on Sunday at Illorin for their game against Wikki Tourists and didn't give the League Management Company (LMC) any reason as to why they refused honouring the match.

According to the framework and rules of the NPFL for the 2015/16 season, Article 13.27 clearly stipulated the consequence of missing consecutive matches without acceptable reasons to the organisers.

If a club fails to honour two consecutive matches without an acceptable reason to LMC such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed match shall be cancelled,” it reads.

And this sanction would also apply should Giwa fail to honour three cumulative matches in the season.

Article 13.28 stated: “If a Club fails to honour three matches cumulatively within the League season without an acceptable reason to the LMC such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed match shall be cancelled.”
