We will protect youth corp members – Abia police assures
by Ugo Okeke
The police command in Abia has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of adequate protection of its members during tomorrow’s elections in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Habila Joshak, gave the assurance in Umuahia.
Joshak said the command was poised to protect the corps members while on election duty as well as in their places of primary assignment.
He commended the NYSC for its role in ensuring hitch-free elections in the state and the country at large.
Corpers that YNaija spoke to said that they felt safe, and were not worried of any weird events tomorrow.
Speaking at a birthday event at Crunchies in Umuahia, Nansel Padwok, a youth corper said that while he was not involved in the elections, his colleagues who were had told him that things were relatively okay two weeks ago, so he did not expect any problems.
Members of the NYSC are usually used as returning officers by INEC during elections.
