The Nigerian police force announced the rescue of a 100-year-old Hawwau Amarea, who was abducted by gunmen at Kudin village of Mahuta local government area of Kebbi state.
Bala Hassan, the assistant inspector-general of police, made the disclosure on June 4, Thursday, in Sokoto, Daily Post reports.
He said that the elderly woman was rescued by the operatives attached to the new anti-kidnap squad set up to arrest those involved in the nefarious act. The police officer revealed that the kidnappers had demanded for N10m ransom.
“Part of the money was made available and was taken to a point where they were supposed to collect it. The police then swung into action and rescued the old woman after a gun battle with the kidnappers,” he added.
