Amosun Vows To Fulfill All Campaign Promises

Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, has assured the good people of the state that he would not renege in fulfilling all his electioneering campaign promises aimed at bringing development and giving a new lease of life to all and sundry in the state.

The governor also solicited for continued prayers for the success of the present administration in spite of the economic reality in the country.

Amosun made this known at the weekend during the states’ Ramadan Special Iftar with the theme; ‘sustaining the gains of 2015 elections: Muslims on call’, held at Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The special Iftar had in attendance the Ogun state deputy governor, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, Head  of Service, Mrs Modupe Adekunle, former Judge of the International Court of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola.

Others are Navy Cpt Atanda Yusuf, former Military Administrator of Ekiti State, Secretary-General, Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Prof Isahaq Oloyede, federal and state legislators, body of permanent secretaries, royal fathers e.t.c

He reiterated that all the on-going projects across the three senatorial districts of the state would be completed without leaving any stone un-turned, adding that all deduction arrears would be offset by the end of July .

He said, “This time, we need prayers from the good people of the state to sustain the tempo of our programmes and policies. We have started and we are determined to work more.

“As a government, all on-going projects in our three senatorial districts would be completed without leaving any stone un-turned. We have promised to offset deduction arrears by the end of July. This administration would not rest on its oars.

“Let me assure you that we would not fail in fulfilling all campaign promises. We have started and we are determined to work harder this second term”, Amosun stated.

While emphasizing the importance of planning which has been the bedrock of Ogun State government since the present economic circumstance rocked the nation, the states’ helmsman said that the initiative to raise the bar of internally generated revenue (IGR), had been helpful in running its affairs.

Amosun also called on Muslims to use the Ramadan season to show love affection and kindness without any form of segregation.

According to him, “We have based everything on planning. The bar of IGR we were able to raise, helped us in achieving the development we can see thus far in spite of the economic reality in the nation.

“It behooves on all Muslims to use this Ramadan season to show kindness and affection in order to make its purpose fully realised”, he affirmed.

Meanwhile, the guest lecturer, who is also the Chief Imam of University of Abuja, Prof. Taofeek  Abdul-Azeez described the 2015 general elections as a watershed, as he called on Nigerians to be patient with the government in fulfilling its promises.

He underscored the need for the government of the day to ignore opposition in order to concentrate on the tasks at hand, pointing out that leaders should engage the followers in dialogue on government policies.
