Group Wants Buhari To Apologize For Doing This
A socio-political action group, Move on Nigeria, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC), to apologize for misleading Nigerians on the issue of bailout funds for the states.
This was disclosed in a statement by Clem Aguiyi, the group national coordinator.
According to Aguiyi, the Buhari-led government should tender an apology to Nigerians following the revelation made recently by the Babs Omotuwa, the managing director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).
The NLNG had stated that the money paid to the federal government, was actually 2014 Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and not dividends as claimed by the federal government.

Reacting to this development, Aguiyi said: “The government must give the people a reason to trust it especially given that there have been all sorts of lies to cover up government’s inaction since its inauguration almost two months ago.
“We can live with the hardships this government has visited on us as if that is the ‘thank you’ for voting it into power, but lies, deceit and cover-ups we cannot condone.”
Aguiyi had earlier said the verifiable truth on the NLNG funds was that the agency had been on a 10-year tax haven until 2014 and within that period, successive governments, right from former president Olusegun Obasanjo down to former president Goodluck Jonathan neither shared nor tampered with the cumulative dividends.

He stated that the NLNG dividends had risen to cumulative $5.6 billion at the end of the tenure of Jonathan.
Meanwhile, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, has stated categorically that the N2.1 billion accruable to his state from the N413.7 billion ($2.1bn) from NLNG, is not bailout from the federal government as reports had stated.
