Buhari Should Be Ready To Lose Friends – Omojuwa

Japheth Omojuwa, renowned Nigerian blogger, political observer and Naij.com columnist,  has been dropping witty and interesting tweets about the current political situation in the country. In particular, about oil money and the demanded probe of Goodluck Jonathan’s government.

President Muhammadu Buhari seems to be resolved to investigate the activities of the immediate past government. The country leader has on several occasions reiterated his commitment to finding and punishing the officials involved in public funds embezzlement. The incumbent, however, vowed to limit the investigation to Jonathan’s cabinet.

Mr Omojuwa, who has recently received official Twitter verification, has taken to social media to share his point of view on the widely-discussed issue. And his position is quite clear.

“Let Buhari probe. We can then blame Buhari if after probing he finds that Jonathan & co. did nothing wrong. That he was simply wasting time.”

“But if @MBuhari doesn’t probe the Jonathan govt., it means the APC was fooling Nigerians all along about Jonathan’s government’s impunity.”

Apparently, speaking about the corruption level in the country, he noted:

“If that government had stayed one more year, we’d have had to sell it to China because we’d have had nothing else to run the country on.”

The famous blogger also expressed confidence that true anti-graft war is the move that required resolution from the acting administration.

“Buhari should be ready to lose friends & allies to fight corruption to a standstill. If he doesn’t, Nigeria’s moral compass will stay dead!”

“Nigerians trusted Buhari with their votes. Buhari wept because of the grand corruption under the Jonathan government…”

Meanwhile the Nigerian Senate yesterday set up a 13-member committee to investigate the management of funds directed to power sector since 1999. This comes amid massive shake-up in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, which has witnessed a series of sackings and appointment in a week’s period.
