Mnay people in Lagos still work in places where they have to go against traffic, and they get to work really on time without stress. Meanwhile, for those cut in the web of the traffic menace, there is hope, as the traffic authorities have started looking into solutions as to ease the grip. The availability of BRT lanes also play a big role in the effort to ease traffic. The railway system is up and running, many Lagosians now board trains for fair prices to their various destinations. But the book cannot be judged by its cover, so one must first visit Lagos especially with a proper guide, before you can draw conclusions. Cities like Miami and new york also have thugs, and they don’t just attack or harass people anyhow.
This is not saying that there are no touts in Oshodi and Ojuelegba, neither are we saying that they are harmless but it is only when you end up at the wrong place that things may get messy. If you can avoid to take the normal Lagos taxi, or preferably the BRT bus, then you are more likely to have less contact with them.

Many people flock to Lagos for greener pastures and better opportunities. With several tales of pit to paradise that are portrayed in Nollywood movies, many Nigerians believe life is alot better in Lagos. However, in reality there is no easy move from mushin to Lekki, there are tales of cold nights spent under the bridge and years of living in wooden houses, with no miracles happeneing.
So for those in some abule, looking to jump on the next abegi-lodo lorry headed for Lagos, you must be ready for the city; getting rich over night in Lagos is living in a lala world. You must have a concrete plan, for housing, feeding and working; if not, don’t really bother. Lagos roads are paved with coal tar and not gold.
4. The cost of living is expensive
Lagos is a very beautiful city, one of Africa’s pride. It is adorned in affluence and luxury but contrary to the believe that it is quite expensive, it can be surprisingly cheap. A person could get high grade and standard goods and services for very fair prices, depending on where you reside.
The cost of living in Isolo will vary to that in Falomo, so one has to do the maths and cut his or her coat according to his or her clothe. Lagos is as expensive as we make it, in truth, if one compares the cost of living in Lagos to other cities like Abuja and Portharcourt, then we would find out that Lagos is a better option anytime.
