Audu’s Rival, Bello Seeks Revenge In Kogi Election As He’s Set To Join New Party

There are strong indications that Yahaya Bello, may eventually run on the Social Democratic Party (SDP) platform following his defeat to Audu Abubakar in the All Progressives Congress Kogi state primary election.

In a short message to his supporters, Yahaya Bello pledged to be on the ballot in the election.

According to Bello, his determination to give leadership to the state can no longer be delayed.

His message to his supporters reads: “I, Alh Yahaya Bello shall be on the ballot in the forthcoming Governorship election of Kogi State, Insha Allah. The coast is clear and the time is NOW! Details soon. Many thanks to all.”

Speaking with Vanguard, a close ally of Bello said that Bello’s defection had long been perfected

According to him, the party took all aspirants for granted on the choice of a running mate for Audu.

Yahaya Bello, who scored 703 votes lost to former governor Audu Abubakar in the APC kogi primaries.

Audu polled 1, 109 votes to beat his closest rival, Bello.

A former Senator, Nurudeen Abatemi, scored 400 votes to place third while another aspirant Sanusi Abubakar, scored 309 votes to place fourth.

The APC candidate Audu is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, of misappropriating N11 billion of the state’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003.
