Olu Of Warri: Dogara Mourns

More condolences have come for the family of the late Olu of Warri, Godwin Edomi, following his demise on Saturday, September 5, the most recent coming from Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The speaker in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and public affairs, Turaki Hassan, on Monday, September 7, condoled with the government and people of Delta state over the death of the Olu of Warri.

The statement stated that the speaker said the country had lost one of its revered traditional rulers.

Dogara described the late monarch as a father for all whose 28 year reign brought peace amongst his people.

The statement further read: “I am deeply touched by the news of the demise of the Olu of Warri. I pray God gives his family, his subjects and the people of Delta State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The late Olu’s demise was a big loss not just to the Itsekiri nation, but Nigeria at large. As people of faith, we know that he has gone to rest as all mortals must die.”

Dogara urged the people of Warri to honor the late Olu of Warri by living in peace and harmony.

The late Olu of Warri, his royal highness, Godwin Edomi, Ogiame Atuwatse II, passed away on Saturday, September 5, from an undisclosed illness at a private hospital in Lagos state.
