Police Uncover Plot To Attack Politicians On Sallah Day

A plot by some people in Kwara state to attack political office holders during the Eid il Kabir festival has been uncovered by police operatives.

The police have said that 2,000 police officers would be deployed to maintain peace and security in the state.

According to Premium Times, this was made known by Esosa Amadasun, the commissioner of police in the state.

Mr Amadasun said the reason for the heightened security was that intelligent reports indicated that some people were planning cause trouble during the Eid prayer in the state capital.

He added that the reason for the deployment was to also protect lives and properties especially during festivals which are the core duties of the police force.

The heightened security is also coming on the back of the Senate president’s case with the code of conduct tribunal. Senator Bukola Saraki, who is from Kwara state, has some loyalists, the tight security is to prevent political thugs from taking advantage the festivity to cause disorder.

The federal government has declared Thursday and Friday, September 24 and 25 respectively, as holidays to celebrate the Eid il Kabir festival.

As the Eid il Kabir festival approaches, the federal government deployed sniffer dogs and bomb detectors to airports around the country in order to detect and prevent violent attacks.
