President Buhari Commences Probe Of Ex-immigration Boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has commenced another probe of one of the officials of the immediate past government of Goodluck Jonathan.

TheCable reports that David Parradang, former comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), is currently undergoing interrogation by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over accusations of corruption.

Parradang, who was recently suspended by President Buhari, arrived the Abuja headquarters of the anti-corruption agency at 10am on September 14 and was immediately escorted into the questioning room by a crack team of already gathered to grill him.

The insider of EFCC said that ex-immigration boss was being probed for his role in the 2014 immigration recruitment exercise, during which applicants were made to pay N1, 000 application fee each.

Investigations carried out by the anti-graft commission disclosed that the failed recruitment exercise made the service a whopping sum of N600 million, but at the end of the exercise, the NIS, under Parradang’s leadership, only announced N45 million. At least 16 job seekers died in the unfortunate exercise.

Abba Moro, former minister of the interior, and Drexel Nigeria Limited, the consultancy firm that provided the botched employment exercise, are also being probed over the supposed scam, and for supposedly diverting the excess funds for private use.

Parradang was appointed the comptroller general of immigration in June 2013 for four year tenure.

He was in office during the infamous immigration recruit in 2014, which led to the death of at least 15 applicants across Nigeria.
