Ahead of the upcoming 2015/2016 UEFA Champions league season, Naij.com names those players who will be missing their club’s first match in the competition.

The Champions League starts on Tuesday September 2015 with the likes of Manchester City in action against Juventus and Manchester United facing Dutch champions PSV.

Other interesting ties are; Real Madrid vs Shakhtar Donetsk, Wolfsburg vs CSKA Moscow, Galatasaray vs Atletico Madrid, Sevilla vs Borussia Moenchenglach

On Monday September 14, Wayne Rooney was omitted from Man Utd’s squad to face PSV due to an hamstring injury whith Anthony Martial set to take his place in the team. The England and United captain missed Saturday’s win Liverpool and misses yet another match.

Juventus will definately miss the services of Sami Khedira, Kwadwo Asamoah and Claudio Marchisio who are nursing thigh, knee and ligament injuries respectively.

Barcelona’s transfer ban is finally coming back to haunt them and will miss in form defender Thomas Vermaelen and Dani Alves while Claudio Bravo will definitely be missed due to a calf injury. He will be replaced in goal by Ter Stegen.
