Siasia Proud Of Oliseh’s Eagles Performance

Nigeria’s U-23 men’s football head coach, Samson Siasia yesterday praised the performance of the Super Eagles in the game against Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Saturday in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking at the Games Village, Kintele, Congo Brazzaville, the former Eagles boss said: “A draw is better than a loss, the team tried and we must not forget the fact that this present Super Eagles are still a new team under a new coach.”

“It’s important they did not lose, for sure they will get better.”

Eagles had barely secured a draw against Tanzania, relying heavily on the heroics of new goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme whose save upon save kept Nigeria in the tie.

Eagles will now face off against the Mena’s of Niger Republic in Port Harcourt on Tuesday in an international friendly match.

Sunday Oliseh’s boys will finally face a stern test when they play Egypt next year in the third match of their  AFCON group qualifiers.

Oliseh had chosen to revamp the Eagles side and they failed to deliver on a day which they were expected to carry the day over a poorly rated Tanzanian side.

Eagles now have four points in two games while Egypt recorded a victory over Chad to lead the group with six points.
