Why Jigawa PDP LGA Chairmen, Councillors Set To Dump Party For APC

The Peoples Democratic Party local government chairmen and councillors in Jigawa state have collectively disclosed that their resolution to dump the party for the All Progressives Congress is based on the ruling party’s ideology of principle of justice and good governance

According to Daily Times reports, the state chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Khalid Ibrahim confirmed the development, adding that their reasons are clear and straight forward.

The chairman said that all the chairmen and councillors have agreed in principle to embrace the APC based on its policies of cardinal principle of social justice and good governance.

The chairman of Birnin-Kudu local government council further stated that the idea was conceived shortly after their maiden courtesy on Governor Badaru Abubakar, where they extolled his good virtue of leadership, describing him as a people-oriented governor.

The Jigawa PDP chairman had said that the governor’s numerous achievements in the last 100 days in office, in upholding principle of probity and accountability, restoration of discipline in the state civil service in addition to the introduction of other economic measures in cutting down extra expenditure for prudent public expenditure have clearly shown that the APC government is for positive change and development in the state and the country at large.

On another hand, the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) held its inaugural closed-door meeting in Kaduna state recently, the first one to be held since President Muhammadu Buhari’s May 29 swearing-in ceremony. Twelve out of 19 states’ governors attended the meeting in person while seven were represented by their deputies.

The meeting dedicated to resolving issues such as poverty, clashes between farmers and cattle-rustlers, the most effective approach to develop the region and combat Boko Haram took place at the Arewa House.
